Abstract

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencermati bagaimana manajemen kelas (pengelolaan kelas) dari seorang guru baru yang tidak memiliki latar belakang ilmu pendidikan guru terutama dalam hal mendisiplinkan siswa dengan menggunakan metode reward dan punishment di Sekolah Lentera Harapan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan subjek penelitian 7 siswa kelas IV. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik kepustakaan dan pengamatan. Pengamatan difokuskan pada bagaimana cara guru baru mengajar di Sekolah Lentera Harapan. Sebelum menganalisis, dilakukan enam tahapan: pertama, pengamatan saat guru kelas mengajar; kedua dilakukan refleksi bersama dengan guru peneliti; ketiga guru peneliti dan guru kelas akan mengajar bersama-sama dengan bidang studi yang berbeda; keempat dilakukan refleksi; kelima pengamatan saat guru kelas kembali mengajar; dan keenam melaksanakan refleksi.Dari hasil penelitian diketahui metode pemberian disiplin dengan menggunakan kekerasan secara fisik, verbal, maupun mental tidak selalu berdampak positif dalam mengubah sikap, perilaku, dan hasil belajar siswa. Metode reward dan punishment berdampak membawa perubahan terhadap sikap, perilaku serta hasil belajar siswa.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to look at how management class (classroom management) of a new teacher who does not have the background in teacher education, especially in terms of disciplining students by using the method of reward and punishment in a Lentera Harapan School. This research is a classroom action research subject seventh grade IV. Data collection was done through a literature review and observation of how a fresh graduate teaches in a Lentera Harapan School. There were six steps in this process. The first was observation of the teaching process. The second was a reflection discussion with the classroom teacher. The third was when the researching teacher and classroom teacher taught different subjects. The fourth step was another reflection. The fifth step was another observation when the classroom teacher taught again. The sixth was a re-evaluation. From the results of the research it was found that methods of discipline using verbal, physical or mental violence/abuse were not always positively effective in changing students’ attitudes, behaviors, and learning results. Methods of reward and punishment is more effective and impactful changed in the attitude, behavior, and student learning outcomes.
