Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the procedure for Computed Tomography (CT) Scan examination of the lumbar vertebrae with BMD measurement in suspected spondylolisthesis, the reasons and advantages and disadvantages of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) measurement of CT Scan examination of the lumbar vertebrae in suspected spondylolisthesis at Brebes Regional General Hospital. The type of research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection methods are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis stage includes data collection, data processing, data analysis, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are CT Scan examination of the lumbar vertebrae in the Radiology Installation of Brebes Regional General Hospital were carried out using the Spine helical protocol with the addition of BMD measurement. The BMD measurement technique on CT Scan of the lumbar vertebrae was carried out after reconstruction of the CT Scan image results of the bone window condition by adjusting the Hounsfield Unit (HU) in the corpus, fat, and muscle sections at Thoracal 12 to Lumbar 5. The reason for BMD measurement is to assess the degree of osteoporosis, choose the time and technique to be used in surgery. The advantage is higher sensitivity for bone shape posture, while the disadvantage is the received radiation dose is greater.
