Anemia is a common public health problem among adolescent girls and negatively affects their quality of life and productivity. Iron deficiency anemia is the most prevalent form of anemia and its occurrence is thought to be influenced, among other factors, by the level of knowledge regarding iron deficiency. Adequate knowledge is expected to support preventive behaviors that may reduce the risk of anemia. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge regarding iron deficiency and the occurrence of anemia among adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 3 Mataram. This study used a categorical analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study subjects were 67 adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 3 Mataram, selected using consecutive sampling. The level of knowledge regarding iron deficiency was assessed using a questionnaire, while the occurrence of anemia was determined based on hemoglobin level measurements. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analyses with Fisher’s Exact test. The majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge regarding iron deficiency, accounting for 49 individuals (73.1%), while 18 respondents (26.9%) had poor knowledge. The prevalence of anemia among adolescent girls in this study was 6.0% (4 respondents), whereas 94.0% (63 respondents) were not anemic. Bivariate analysis using Fisher’s Exact test indicated that there was no statistically significant association between the level of knowledge regarding iron deficiency and the occurrence of anemia among adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 3 Mataram (p = 0.567).
