Efektivitas Senyawa Antioksidan berbagai Tumbuhan Obat Sebagai Agen Hepatoprotektif terhadap Penyakit Hati akibat Alkohol

Abstract

Penyakit hati akibat alkohol (Alcoholic Liver Disease, ALD) adalah salah satu penyebab utama kematian akibat konsumsi alkohol kronis. ALD ditandai dengan kerusakan progresif pada hati yang meliputi steatosis, hepatitis alkoholik, fibrosis, hingga sirosis. Penyebab utama kerusakan adalah stres oksidatif, inflamasi, dan disfungsi mitokondria yang dipicu oleh akumulasi acetaldehyde dan spesies oksigen reaktif (ROS). Berbagai senyawa antioksidan alami dari tumbuhan obat telah menunjukkan efek hepatoprotektif yang signifikan. Senyawa seperti flafonoid dari Moringa oleifera, gingerol dan shogaol dari Zingiber officinale, serta flavolignan dari Silybum marianum telah terbukti efektif mengurangi tingkat AST, ALT, dan MDA. Selain itu, senyawa ini mampu meningkatkan aktivitas enzim antioksidan seperti SOD dan glutathione, serta menghambat pelepasan sitokin inflamasi. Hasil histopatologi menunjukkan regenerasi jaringan hati dan stabilisasi struktur hepatosit. Penelitian ini menyoroti potensi terapi berbasis senyawa antioksidan alami sebagai solusi aman dan efektif untuk manajemen ALD. Dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya alami ini, pengembangan pengobatan berbasis tumbuhan dapat menawarkan alternatif yang lebih terjangkau dan minim efek samping.
