Abstract
ABSTRACT
Candida albicans is one of the microorganisms that often causes infection. Infection
caused by Candida albicans can cause the appearance of candidiasis. Exploration of the
benefits of white frangipani plants especially in the health sector is rarely reported, so it
is necessary to do research on the inhibitory power of white frangipani extract (Plumeria
acuminata) on the growth of Candida albicans in vitro. So that in the future people can
use frangipani flowers as a natural source of antifungals to treat candidiasis. The purpose
of this study was to determine the inhibition of white frangipani (Plumeria acuminata)
leaf extract concentrations of 1%, 5%, 10% and 15% in the growth of Candida albicans
in vitro. The test uses the Kirby-Bauer method with paper discs. Leaf samples were
extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol. The results showed that white frangipani
leaf extract concentrated at 1%, 5%, 10% and 15% gave inhibition to the growth of
Candida albicans.

ABSTRAK
Candida albicans merupakan salah satu mikroorganisme yang sering menyebabkan
infeksi. Infeksi yang disebabkan oleh Candida albicans dapat meyebabkan munculnya
penyakit kandidiasis. Eksplorasi manfaat tanaman kamboja putih khususnya di bidang
kesehatan masih jarang dilaporkan, sehingga perlu dilakukan penelitian tentang daya
hambat ekstrak daun kamboja putih (Plumeria acuminata) terhadap pertumbuhan jamur
Candida albicans secara in vitro. Sehingga kedepannya masyarakat bisa memanfaatkan
bunga kamboja sebagai sumber antifungi alami untuk mengobati penyakit kandidiasis.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak daun kamboja
putih (Plumeria acuminata) konsentrasi 1%, 5%, 10% dan 15% terhadap pertumbuhan
jamur Candida albicans secara in vitro. Pengujian menggunakan metode Kirby-Bauer
dengan kertas cakram. Sampel daun diekstraksi dengan proses maserasi menggunakan
etanol 96%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak daun kamboja putih konsentrasi 1%,
5%, 10% dan 15% memberikan daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Candida
albicans.
