Abstrak

Faith maturation is not necessarily a linear outcome of age or length of church membership. Adults undergoing recovery from addiction, trauma, loss, or relational breakdown may face distinctive challenges that require forms of Christian formation responsive to adult experience. This study aims to develop a conceptual framework for adult faith maturation in an Outcome-Based Christian Education (OBCE) recovery community, using the recovery ministry at GKII Mustikajaya Bekasi as a reflective context rather than an empirical research site. The study employs a qualitative library research approach. Published academic literature was selected through a structured search and analyzed thematically to synthesize perspectives from Fowler’s faith development theory, Westerhoff’s faith styles, Erikson’s psychosocial theory, spiritual formation, and Outcome-Based Education. The synthesis indicates that adult faith maturation in recovery can be understood through four interrelated elements: structural diagnosis of faith development, psychosocial diagnosis, outcome-based formation design, and grounding in grace-centered spiritual formation. OBCE contributes a designing-down discipline for aligning intended outcomes, formative activities, and authentic assessment, while theological demarcation keeps psychological and pedagogical theories subordinate to the authority of Scripture within the Reformed perspective adopted in this study. The resulting model is conceptual and has not been empirically validated. Further field research is therefore needed to examine its applicability and effectiveness in recovery ministries.
