Abstract

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak daun cem-cem (Spondias pinnata (L.f) Kurz) dalam menghambat pertumbuhann Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, dan Salmonella typhi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap. Efektivitas ekstrak daun cem-cem dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli dan Salmonella typhi menggunakan metode sumur difusi dengan variasi ekstrak 20%, 40% dan 60%. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini dianalisis dengan analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA). Rerata hambatan semua perlakuan menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda nyata (p<0,05) terhadap kontrol baik kontrol positif maupun kontrol negatif. Rerata diameter zona hambat yang tertinggi adalah konsentrasi ekstrak 60% dengan rerata 13,98 ± 0,75 mm, 9,33 ± 0,42 mm dan 11,08 ± 0,46 mm masing-masing terhadap Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli dan Salmonella typhi. Daun cem-cem mengandung senyawa fenol, flavonoids, tanin, alkaloid dan terpenoid yang berpotensi menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of cem-cem leaf extract (Spondias pinnata (L.f) Kurz) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella typhi. This research is an experimental research using Completely Randomized Design. The effectiveness of cem-cem leaf extract in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi using diffusion well method with variation of extract 20%, 40% and 60%. Data obtained in this study were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). The average barrier of all treatments showed significantly different results (p < 0.05) to control both positive and negative controls. The highest mean inhibitory zone diameter was 60% extract concentration with mean of 13.98 ± 0.75 mm, 9.33 ± 0.42 mm and 11.08 ± 0.46 respectively against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi bacteria. Cem-cem leaves contains phenol, flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids and terpenoids that can potentially inhibit the bacterial growth.
