Abstract

ABSTRAK
Infertilitas dapat didefinisikan sebagai kesulitan untuk terjadinya kehamilan setelah 1 tahun hubungan seksual tanpa kontrasepsi. Infertilitas dapat timbul karena faktor pria atau wanita atau keduanya. Mitokondria merupakan organel sel yang berfungsi dalam respirasi guna membentuk ATP. Mitokondria memainkan peranan penting pada semua jalur biokimia sel, hingga mempengaruhi laju motilitas spermatozoa. Motilitas sperma sangat bergantung pada ATP yang dihasilkan oleh fosforilasi oksidatif dalam selubung mitokondria. Genom dari mitokondria dalam review ini berhubungan erat dengan terjadinya kasus infertilitas pada pria.

ABSTRACT
Infertility can be defined as the difficulty in getting pregnant after 1 year of sexual intercourse without contraception. Infertility can arise due to male or female factors or both. Mitochondria are cell organelles that function in respiration to form ATP. Mitochondria play an important role in all biochemical pathways of cells, thus affecting the rate of motility of spermatozoa. Sperm motility is highly dependent on ATP produced by oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondrial sheath. The genome of the mitochondria in this review is closely related to the incidence of male infertility.
